![]() ![]() Jerrie’s dream never died, and at the age of 38 she did what no other woman had ever done before – she flew solo around the world in a tiny 11-year-old single-engine Cessna. ![]() But why not – it’s even rumored that her grandfather, Raymond Wright, is actually related to the famous Wright Brothers! After all, at that time young girls in small towns across America were expected to learn how to become successful wives and mothers. Of course, no one really believed her then. At the age of seven she took her first airplane ride in a Ford Tri-Motor and told her family and friends that she would someday fly around the world. A native of Newark, Ohio and former resident of Bexley, Geraldine “Jerrie” Mock early on exhibited the tenacity to follow her dreams. ![]()
